Clear legal fees begin with a clearly defined assignment

The legal profession law provides for a written retainer before work begins and a defined assignment. Specify whether the service covers document review, negotiation, litigation or a particular stage. Do not assume first-instance proceedings, appeals and enforcement are all included in one figure without express terms.

Separate professional fees from court, expert, translation and other expenses. Record the calculation method, payment schedule, approval of additional costs and progress reporting. A low or high price alone does not establish quality, and paying a legal fee does not guarantee a judicial outcome.

Check the individual and firm in Dubai’s official directory and identify who will perform each part of the work. A Legal Consultant title is not equivalent to authority to appear and plead before Dubai Courts. Clarify the responsible professional’s appropriate status where courtroom representation is required.
